CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY IN BANKS

David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks was pleased to run a Clean Up Australia Day site at Myles Dunphy Reserve in Oatley on Sunday. Mr Coleman was accompanied by a group of volunteers from the local area. “Protecting and preserving our natural environment is of great importance”, Mr Coleman said. “The Australian Government supports the fantastic work done by the Clean Up Australia campaign with $300,000 over three years in funding from our National Landcare Programme”. The Australian Government funding complements the generous donations of funding, time and effort by businesses, councils and community members who are supporting Clean Up Australia’s national campaign to reduce waste, remove litter and to improve the health of our environment. “The people of Oatley and the greater St George area are passionate about protecting the local environment and making the area safe and clean for everyone to enjoy,” Mr Coleman said. Last year’s Clean Up Australia Day was a great success with more than 533,500 volunteers across Australia collecting over 13,708 tonnes of rubbish from cleanup sites across the country. “This is a fantastic effort and it shows that by working together we can make a real difference to keep Australia clean,” Mr Coleman said.
