Federal Member For Banks
Shadow Minister for Communications

David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks, joined more than 1000 people in Wollongong on Sunday to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Nan Tien Temple.

Mr Coleman was the official representative of the Australian Government at the event, and delivered a message on behalf of Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

“For two decades, the Nan Tien Temple has played an integral role in the lives of thousands of Australian Buddhists,” Mr Coleman said.

“As well as its religious significance, the Temple contributes to regional and state tourism with its unique architecture, arts, cultural events, educational programs, dining, conference and auditorium facilities.

“This is not only a great opportunity to look back at the last twenty years, but a good time to look forward to the future and plan how the Temple will contribute to our community for decades to come. In March, the Nan Tien educational institute will open, and I look forward to attending that special event.

“I would like to particularly thank and congratulate Venerable Abbess Man Ko and the Buddha’s Light International Association for their commitment and dedication to the Temple, and the broader community”.
