DAVID CHAIRS HEARINGS WITH CEOS OF FOUR MAJOR BANKS

David has once again led hearings with representatives of the Four Major Banks as part of the ongoing inquiry into the Banking industry by the House of Representatives Committee on Economics. David is the chair of this committee.

The four hearings, held in Parliament House in Canberra, focused on a range of important issues relating to banks, including fees charged for using tap-and-go payments, executive accountability measures, and interest rates.

Following the last hearings held by the Committee, the Government accepted nine out of ten recommendations at the 2017 Budget. The recommendations included the establishment of a new one-stop shop for consumner complaints against banks and new powers for the ACCC to investigate the setting of interest rates.

The Committee is expected to publish its next report later this year.
