DAVID COLEMAN AND MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND THE ARTS VISIT OATLEY 101 SOCIETY OF ARTISTS

Mr David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks, and the Hon. Mitch Fifield, Minister for Communications and the Arts, recently visited Oatley 101 Society of Artists.

Mr Coleman and Senator Fifield spoke with Geraldine Taylor, the President of the Society, about the group’s activities.

“It was great to visit Oatley 101 once again,” Mr Coleman said. “The Society has been running for over 20 years and goes from strength to strength”.

“The society provides its nearly 200 members with classes and exhibitions and exposure to new artists. It continually reinvests in new facilities as well as raising money for fantastic local causes,” Mr Coleman said.

In recent years the society has donated $5000 to Father Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets, $2000 to Sunnyhaven Art Therapy Programs and $5000 to the Benevolent Society’s Art Therapy programs addressing mental health in the St George Area.

“I’d like to thank Oatley 101 for their outstanding efforts.  It is great that they are able to raise money for other community groups whilst bringing high quality art to our area,” Mr Coleman said.
