David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks today announced funding for the installation of new CCTV cameras at Allawah and South Hurstville.

Mr Coleman was joined by the Minister for Justice, Michael Keenan in Banks today to make the announcement.

Under this funding, 3 CCTV cameras will be installed in Allawah and 3 CCTV cameras will be installed at South Hurstville.

“Crime is one of the biggest issues raised with me in the local area”, Mr Coleman said.

“I am pleased that CCTV cameras will be installed at these important locations”.

“The cameras will assist in the prevention of crime and the identification of criminal activities”.

CCTV cameras in Allawah will be installed along Railway Parade. CCTV cameras in South Hurstville will be installed at the shops on King Georges Road and Allen Street.

Mr Keenan said the funding is drawn from the Proceeds of Crime Account – that is money taken from criminals and reinvested into prevention of further crime.

“The best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour is to prevent it from happening”, Minister Keenan said.

“These cameras will assist in making our streets and communities safer”.

“I congratulate David Coleman on his efforts to deliver CCTV cameras for the St George area”.
