Federal Minister for Justice, the Hon. Michael Keenan, and Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman MP, announced $84,000 in Safer Streets funding for Banks.
Minister Keenan and Mr Coleman were in Riverwood to make the announcement, along with representatives from Hurstville City Council and local small business operators.
“Penshurst, Mortdale, Narwee and Riverwood will benefit from $84,000 in Safer Streets funding that will deliver fourteen CCTV cameras across these suburbs,” Mr Coleman said.
Mr Coleman welcomed the Coalition Government’s $84,000 investment to improve security in the local community.
“Families, business owners and local community organisations have all told me that action needs to be taken to make our streets safer,” Mr Coleman said.
“It’s my job to stand up for our community, and I am proud that we have achieved a good result in getting this funding”.
Minister for Justice, Michael Keenan congratulated David Coleman on the work undertaken to secure the funding for local communities.
“Our Government committed to help local communities deliver effective local solutions to crime hot-spots and anti-social behaviour through the Safer Streets programme and we are delivering on that commitment in this Budget.
“All Australians have the right to feel safe and secure in their community and the Safer Streets Programme will help achieve that,” Mr Keenan said.
Mr Coleman said that he will now focus on securing funding from future Safer Streets rounds for CCTV cameras in Allawah and Padstow.
“I will continue to fight for funding to help make our community safer,” Mr Coleman said.
