David Coleman, the Federal Member for Banks, recently met with representatives from St George Football Association to announce that they will be receiving $500, 000 from the Federal Government to conduct lighting upgrades at local sporting fields across the St George area.

Mr Coleman has welcomed this funding boost, noting how it will benefit not only local sporting teams, but also local residents who may wish to utilise our local parks in low-light conditions.

“For too long local sporting groups have had to play in poorly-lit conditions,” Mr Coleman said. “Improving lighting standards will enable local sporting teams and residents to make better use of our local parks.”

“It’s really important that lighting is up-to-scratch for local athletes and residents, and I am glad that this funding has been secured.”

CEO of St George Football Association, Mr Craig Kiely, has also welcomed news of this funding.

“The funding will be used to upgrade and improve lighting across multiple football fields in the Georges River LGA, such as Renown Reserve, to improve accessibility and safety,” Mr Kiely said

“We thank the Federal Government and David Coleman and look forward to getting started on this important project with Georges River Council”.
