NEW MEDICARE MRI LICENCE FOR ST GEORGE HOSPITAL
On Thursday 31st January David and Health Minister Greg Hunt announced the new MRI licence at St George Hospital.
Patients in the St George area will now be able to access lifesaving MRI with the Government announcing a new MRI licence for St George Hospital.
This MRI licence is expected to benefit many people living in the area through a Medicare rebate and provide an estimated 3,719 services a year – saving lives and reducing the costs for patients.
“The new MRI licence at St George Hospital demonstrates the Government's commitment to the people of Banks in delivering real results,” David said.
The MRI service will be available in March as a bulk-billed scan at the hospital.
“Patients in the area will now have access to eligible bulk-billed MRI scans and will no longer have to pay hundreds of dollars to access the service,” David said. "I am pleased that this service will be offered at St George Hospital and that residents can now benefit from the bulk-billed service."
ACTION NEEDED AT CONNELLS POINT ROAD & KING GEORGES ROAD INTERSECTION
David is seeking Federal funding to improve the intersection of Connells Point Road and King Georges Road.
For too long, the intersection has been overly congested and more needs to be done for the safety of local motorists.
"Improvements at the intersection will reduce congestion at this location as well as improve safety for the hundreds of local motorists driving through here every day," David said.
PRIME MINISTER SCOTT MORRISON UNVEILS NEW WAR MEMORIAL AT PENSHURST RSL
On Saturday 9th February Prime Minister Scott Morrison and David attending the unveiling of the new ANZAC War Memorial dedicated to Captain John Hamilton VC at Penshurst RSL Club.
Captain John Hamilton was born in 1896 and was a local Penshurst resident. He enlisted in September 1914 and served with the 3 Australian Infantry Battalion.
He was presented the VC at Buckingham Palace by King George V for his conspicuous bravery.
"It was great to recognise the service of Captain Hamilton and to have the Prime Minister attend such an important occasion," David said.
The memorial is located in the foyer of Penshurst RSL Club.
THE 2019 BANKS COMMUNITY PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITON IS NOW OPEN
The Banks Community Photography Competition is now open. The competition aims to highlight examples of the beauty of our local area.
The winner will receive $250 towards photo supplies.
Entries close 22 March 2019.
LAMBETH RESERVE BOARDWALK AT PICNIC POINT RECEIVES MUCH NEEDED UPGRADES
David has welcomed the opening of the new boardwalk at Lambeth Reserve in Picnic Point.
The Federal Government contributed an amount $468,000 to deliver this important Boardwalk Replacement Project.
The project at Lambeth Reserve has seen the replacement of the damaged walkway along the Georges River. The walkway at Lambeth Reserve is now much safer and more accessible thanks to these works.
"Residents are now able to enjoy the upgraded path along the Georges River in Picnic Point," David said.
“The Georges River is one of our local area’s greatest assets,” David said, “It is important that we have facilities along the river which are up to standard.”
EDUCATION MINISTER VISITS MARIST COLLEGE AT PENSHURST
On the 26th of February, David and the Minister for Education, the Hon Dan Tehan MP, visited Marist Catholic College Penshurst. David and Minister Tehan were given tours of the impressive new facilities by student leaders and got to see first-hand how beneficial the significant developments were for students.
“It’s great to see so many students enjoying the new facilities here at Penshurst Marist,” David said.
These new developments include a new dance studio, several music rooms, a small performance theatre and a number of new classrooms.

GRANDPARENTS WHO PARENTS
The Grandparents support group is aimed at those who are formal carers of their grandchildren and other kin-care situations. The group meets on a formal basis each month to provide an opportunity to discuss each other's experiences and to hear from professionals.

HURSTVILLE COMMUNITY GARDEN
Hurstville Community Garden is growing community spirit.
Hurstville City’s community garden is on the corner of Wright and Cross streets, Hurstville and opened in 2007. Hurstville City Council donated the land for the community garden, in a project initiated by former Hurstville Councillor Sandy Grekas. Our garden features a communal area, education area and more than 30 plots, which were allocated to residents through a ballot system when it started. We currently have approximately 50 members from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Our garden is managed by the Hurstville Community Garden Association, comprised of interested community members. Our garden is also a regular venue for sustainability workshops which Council hosts for the community. We grow a variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs - please drop by and visit us! Tennis is a great way to get some exercise in both a social and competitive environment. The Illawarra Suburbs Lawn Tennis Association has been running competitions in the area for over 100 years and continues to run competitions for players of all standards every day of the week. Little Wings at Bankstown are holding an inagural Run the Runway at Bankstown Airport. ST GEORGE ART SOCIETY
St George Art Society encourages fine art. Artists (and emerging artists) share ideas and experiences, learn new skills, have a chance to exhibit their art and make connections in a social community. New members are welcome.

ST MARKS ART GROUP
St Marks Art Group is an informal but active group of artists working in all media who come together for the joy of art and sharing our wide-ranging talents and experience with others. YWCA ENCORE EXERCISE PROGRAM
YWCA Encore is a free exercise program for women in the Revesby area who have had Breast Cancer surgery. The program involves land and pool based exercises.
