74% of Mobile Black Spot Grants in Labor Areas

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has today admitted in Question Time that none of the 54 locations in the Government’s Improving Mobile Coverage Round of the Mobile Black Spots Program were chosen based on her Department’s advice.

All 54 locations were chosen by the Labor Party. Labor holds only 33% of electorates outside of Metropolitan Australia, but 74% of the locations chosen are in Labor electorates.

This is an outrageous misuse of taxpayer funds for the political benefit of the Labor Party.

Hundreds of crucial projects around the country will miss out on funding due to this cynical use of taxpayer money. Minister Rowland should apologise to the millions of regional and rural Australians that her Government has treated so badly.
