FEDERAL SUPPORT FOR MATERNITY HEALTH SERVICES AT 3BRIDGES

3Bridges Community has recently employed a new Perinatal Family Support Worker thanks to funding from the Federal Government towards supporting mothers in the St George area.

The support worker has more than 15 years’ experience working with vulnerable members of the community and will provide one-on-one support for local expectant mothers.

Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman MP, said that it’s important to provide services that support expectant mothers and their families both during and after pregnancy.

“This new support worker will provide early intervention and wellbeing support for mothers in the lead up to the birth of their child. It will be great resource for mothers and their families, and I’m pleased we’ve been able to support it,” Mr Coleman said.

“The addition of a support worker at 3Bridges for mothers during pregnancy builds on the support the Federal Government has given to the Early Years Support Service at 3Bridges for parents with newborns.”

CEO of 3Bridges, Raj Nair, said that the new support worker was a great addition to the services provided by 3Bridges and that referrals to the service have started to come in.
