JAKE BAILEY WINS BANKS VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

At a ceremony attended by 200 people on October 11 at Olds Park Sports Club in Beverly Hills, Jake Bailey was announced as the winner of the Banks Volunteer of the Year Award. The Award was established in 2014 and recognises outstanding achievement in the community. More than 50 people were nominated for the Award this year.

Jake was named the winner of the Award for his outstanding efforts as part of the Australian Air League, Riverwood Squadron.  The Riverwood Air League is very well known to the St George community for its involvement in many local events, particularly through its band.

Since 2011, Jake has volunteered as a drummer for numerous Anzac Parades, festivals and community activities. Jake also volunteers his time to train and assist Squadron Cadets during Ceremonial Drill and Unit Marching.

“I was very pleased to present Jake with the Award,” David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks said.

“Jake has shown great commitment to the local community through his dedication to the Riverwood Squadron.  The Riverwood Air League are a cornerstone of our community, and Jake has been a key member of the group for more than a decade.

The Master of Ceremonies for the event was the General Manager of St George’s Radio 2NBC, Paul McGrath.
